It is with deepest sadness that I have to report that my mum, Eira Moores passed away on Monday 15th December. Missing her so much.
Mum started in Rough Collies in 1965 and registered our affix “Manordeifi” (see Rough Collie notes). In 1984 with support from Mum I bred my 1st litter of Smooth Collies from my Rough Collie Manordeifi Rosalyn, a daughter of M. Dixie Rose (my foundation bitch & Birthday present from Mum). Dixie Rose was by a son of Honeydew of Vandeana x daughter of Brettonpark Dixie Darling – 2 of Mum’s foundation bitches so all my Smooths can be traced back to the beginning of Manordeifi Collies.
Mum owned several Smooth Collie dogs over the years including Manordeifi Sensational & his grandson Manordeifi Pathfinder who won a RCC. Also Manordeifi Spring Designer who sired Tomalca Buttons’n’bows at Manordeifi (dam of Manordeifi Bow Regard). Mum’s last Smooth Collie was Manordeifi Sapphire Dawn who we lost in March 2022.
Mum awarded CCs in both breeds. She awarded CCs in Smooth Collies 7 times from City of Birmingham in 1992, Crufts in 1996 and lastly Lancs & Cheshire Collie in 2012. She also judged in Sweden in 2000, an enjoyable experience.
Mum’s funeral will take place at Hereford Crematorium on Wednesday 21st January at 12.15pm. Donations to St Michael’s Hospice, Hereford. Please let me know if you are planning to come.
