Critique:
Firstly I would like to thank the Committee for inviting me to judge Smooth Collies, my first appointment judging this fabulous breed. Also thank you to exhibitors for supporting me with a fabulous entry.
Junior: Lovely class of juniors with some real quality exhibits. 1st: Russell’s Koczkodan Steel my Heart: 15 month old blue merle bitch, lovely colour with distinct marbling. Feminine well proportioned head, correct almond eye, with good ear set. Arched neck leading into well set shoulders framing correct front angulation. Good depth of chest, level topline sloping away in excellent tailset with tail of good length. Well muscled rear with good rear angulation. Lovely small, neat feet. Moved well with great reach and drive. 2nd: Wensley’s Constella Hazy Cosmic Jive: 13 month old tri-colour dog, a lot to like about this boy, masculine well proportioned head, good underjaw, with correct ear set. Good reach of neck into well placed shoulders, good depth of chest, good length of back into good tailset with tail of good length. Muscular well angulated rear. Moved well. 3rd: Swan’s Koczkodan Silver Bullet. 4th Seager’s Blamorder Scale Force.
Post Graduate: 1st: Wensley’s Constella Hazy Cosmic Jive (see Junior class) 2nd: Swan’s Koczkodan Silver Bullet: 15 month old blue merle dog, lovely masculine head, well proportioned, almond shape eye and well tipped correct ear set. Lovely reach of neck, good shoulder set and front angulation. Good length of back, well muscled and angulated rear. Moved well. 3rd Davies and Brown’s Breckamore Blessings at Wistry.
Open: 1st: Lusty’s CH Blamorder Ice Cream Dream: 6 year old blue merle bitch that caught my eye the moment she entered the ring. Beautifully marked pretty bitch, clean well proportioned head, ears well set and used to her advantage. Arched neck into well angulated front, good depth of chest and length of back into well angulated and muscled rear. Correct tailset of good length. Lovely bone and tight neat feet. Moved well and was handled and presented to her advantage. I was pleased to award her Best of Breed and was delighted to see her win the Pastoral Group in tough competition. 2nd: Russell’s Koczkodan Midnight Sun JW: 4 ½ year old sable bitch, lovely head and expression with dark almond eye, good overall construction and well angulated front and rear. Good bone and neat feet, moved well.
